Medicine Wheels & Godsign™

Hello All
Happy Friday!

Ye who love the haunts of Nature,
Love the sunshine of the meadow,
Love the shadow of the forest,
Love the wind among the branches,
And the rain-shower and the snow-storm,
And the rushing of great rivers
Through their palisades of pine-trees,
And the thunder in the mountains,
Whose innumerable echoes
Flap like eagles in their eyries;-
Listen to these wild traditions . . .

November is about harvest time, reaping the rewards of hard work, giving gratitude and thanks to our Creator and all those that have helped bring precious Gifts into our life this year.

The 11th month; 11 is a number signifying mastery and the 11th month can be a time to look for the Master inside yourSelf, and to walk a walk that is true to you. The season of Thanksgiving was originally to help honor and celebrate all of the above.

The early European settlers of the New World would not have survived without the help and food provided by the Native Americans along its shores. These Native Americans lived and knew of an intimate connection with Mother Earth and Father Sun. They communicated on a personal level with the Divine as well as with all animals and creatures that shared the world with them.

I do not mean to imply that the Native American culture did not have issues, problems, concerns and quarrels amongst themselves and other tribes. But, all Native American tribes, clans and cultures KNEW that their environment and everything in it ‘spoke’ to them lovingly, wisely and without fail.

We have been taught and have learned many stories about the Pilgrims and their Thanksgiving feasts. As a nation we have not spent as much time studying the Native American traditions. That has been a loss to us as a nation not a gain.

America’s Native Peoples realized that all space was Sacred Space. To keep an area sacred and pure where a tribe was living they would construct one of the most ancient of Native symbols – the Medicine Wheel. There used to be thousands upon thousands laid out on every section of the American Continent.

The Medicine Wheel at Medicine Mountain National Historic Landmark is a medicine wheel located in the Bighorn National Forest, in Wyoming. It is an astrological calendar, holy sight and sacred space. It is a large stone structure made of local white limestone laid upon a bedrock of limestone.

Any sacred Medicine Wheel symbolizes the wheel of life. The Medicine Wheel is forever circling bringing new truths to the Path each of us is walking. The Medicine Wheel is a circle made with a minimum of 12 rocks, with the 4 largest stones at the positions of North, South, East and West. They look very much like the face of a clock. Sacred dances, rituals and long held rites were performed before, during and after the construction of any Medicine Wheel.

“Medicine” to the Indians meant anything that improved the ‘connection’ between them and the Great Mystery and to all Life. This included healing of the mind, body and spirit. This type of ‘medicine’ also brought understanding, strength and personal power.

Each position on the medicine wheel was honored as corresponding to different aspects of life.

The North position symbolized wisdom that was cool-headed and controlled, the deep knowledge that is found through good work and time.

The South represented the power of our inner child; the harmony and peace that can be found in joy, play, fun and laughter in life.

The East represented the sunrise; bringing illumination and light onto any subject which can also bring the power of clarity and authenticity.

The West position was based on the setting sun, the goals you wished to achieve at the end of the day, or month, or year, or lifetime.

The Native Americans understood that everyone walked and stood on each position of the Medicine Wheel at different times in their lives. It was believed that a good life meant that each walked their Circle of Life walk with integrity and truth, to the best of their ability. They understood that they could not judge one another’s walk because no two are ever alike.

An ancient, wise, strong, proud, intelligent and very in-tune culture saved the European settlers from certain death and disaster. We all owe them a great debt of thanks and gratitude during this time of year if at no other time. You would not be sitting where you are right now without the sacred and ancient culture of the Native Americans.

Dear Creator, I give deep and heart-felt THANKS to all those reading this and others like them who have helped fill our world with their Divine Light! I am so grateful to all who help turn the Wheel of Love for us all.

Watching the Wheels
by John Lennon

People say I’m crazy doing what I’m doing,
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin,
When I say that I’m okay they look at me kind of strange,
Surely you’re not happy now you no longer play the game?

People say I’m lazy dreaming my life away,
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me.
When I tell that I’m doing Fine watching shadows on the wall,
Don’t you miss the big time boy you’re no longer on the ball?

I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go,

People asking questions lost in confusion,
Well I tell them there’s no problem, Only solutions,
Well they shake their heads and they look at me
as if I’ve lost my mind,
I tell them there’s no hurry
I’m just sitting here doing time.

I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go.

“Watching the Wheels” is a single by John Lennon released posthumously in 1981 after his murder. The B-side features Yoko Ono’s “Yes, I’m Your Angel.” It was the third and final single released from Lennon and Ono’s album Double Fantasy, and reached number 10 and number 7 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cashbox Top 100, respectively. It also peaked at number 30 in the UK.

And a SPECIAL THANK YOU to our continent’s ancestors who originally lived here. They saved a people from a country far, far away. It was what was right and honorable to do and what the original Native American Peoples did and lived, and what the country of America STANDS FOR . . . and should continue to do!

The Song of Hiawatha

. . . “There he sang of Hiawatha,
Sang the Song of Hiawatha,
Sang his wondrous birth and being,
How he prayed and how be fasted,
How he lived, and toiled, and suffered,
That the tribes of men might prosper,
That he might advance his people!”

Ye who love the haunts of Nature,
Love the sunshine of the meadow,
Love the shadow of the forest,
Love the wind among the branches,
And the rain-shower and the snow-storm,
And the rushing of great rivers
Through their palisades of pine-trees,
And the thunder in the mountains,
Whose innumerable echoes
Flap like eagles in their eyries;-
Listen to these wild traditions,
To this Song of Hiawatha!

Ye who love a nation’s legends,
Love the ballads of a people,
That like voices from afar off
Call to us to pause and listen,
Speak in tones so plain and childlike,
Scarcely can the ear distinguish
Whether they are sung or spoken;-
Listen to this Indian Legend,
To this Song of Hiawatha!
Ye whose hearts are fresh and simple,
Who have faith in God and Nature,
Who believe that in all ages
Every human heart is human,
That in even savage bosoms
There are longings, yearnings, strivings
For the good they comprehend not,
That the feeble hands and helpless,
Groping blindly in the darkness,
Touch God’s right hand in that darkness
And are lifted up and strengthened;-
Listen to this simple story,
To this Song of Hiawatha! . . .

Next Meeting Friday – December 7th, at 6:30

Many in our world are aware and know that although their loved one’s Spirit has passed into Heaven the sacred and eternal communications and connections with their loved ones still continue with them after death.

The Griffin Grief Group’s mission is to help everyone learn to strengthen, use and honor the many and varied Sacred Messages received from loved ones in Spirit. Over time, these sacred messages and communications help ease grief through the eternal bonds of God’s Love and Grace.

Whether you have lost your parent or child, spouse or friend, the loss and grief can feel like it will consume your heart. The Griffin Grief Groups are here to help you connect through Spirit with your loved one in Spirit. You will meet others who understand deep grief from their own experiences. Sharing the eternal Connection we all are capable of knowing, seeing and using in our daily life from our loved ones in Heaven allows each of us to realize how deep and everlasting their love is for us in God’s eternal Home and helps lessen grief.

Our group meets the First Friday’s of every month at Inner Path,
the cost is $15

See additional info at www.myinnerpath.com. Come early as seating is limited.
