Turtles, Frogs and Godsign™

Hello All
Happy Friday to you!

“Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of the singing of birds has come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.”

Bible – The Song of Solomon
Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

Green turtles, tortoise, toads and frogs have made their Presence – their Gifts – known for all the world since before humans evolved. Because of the shape of their shells, turtles and tortoises have been considered a symbol of the world. The turtle is the oldest Native American symbol for the Earth Mother and there are beliefs that earthquakes and thunder are the cosmic turtle shaking its earthly shell.

The continent of North American is known as Turtle Island by many of the Native American peoples because the shape of our continent does look like the shape of a turtle. According to the Iroquois and Seneca Tribes’ oral history, Sky Woman fell down to the earth when it was covered with water. Various animals tried to swim to the bottom of the ocean to bring back dirt to create land. Muskrat succeeded in gathering dirt, which was placed on the back of a turtle, which grew into the land known today as North America.

The Chinese envisioned the Earth as a huge turtle and they regarded the marks on the turtle’s shell as a map of the constellations and for divination. China to this day has 4 sacred animals; the dragon, phoenix, unicorn and the only real animal – the turtle. The Chinese consider the turtle a symbol of longevity as some turtles live longer than many humans. The turtle Chukwa is believed to be one of the 10 incarnations of Vishnu in the Hindu culture.

Turtles speak to us often about Time. The gifts of Time, helping us know when to speed up, slow down to move with the Sacred Flow of Time. Turtles were used in the movie Finding Nemo (of all things) to teach about the Flow of Time, showing us that it is possible to ‘ride’ Time like riding the flow of the East Australian Current – a major Flow of water. The turtle wins the race in Aesop’s ancient folklore. They just keep moving forward and getting it done . . . and as they did in Finding Nemo – riding the Flow that is Time.

Turtles are Used as Godsign to let you know that you are winning the race by slow steady movements forward in time. Turtles don’t go backward, only forward, like the dimension of Time we find ourselves in.

Many of the traditions and beliefs around the Gifts of turtles, tortoises, toads and frogs revolve around water, fertility and birth. The Australian Aboriginal myths, many African tribal beliefs and the Polynesian peoples believe turtles and frogs embody the power of ocean deities.

Science tells us that we resemble tadpoles – baby frogs – the first few days of human life in the womb.

Toads and frogs are animals that follow those who in their past lifetimes were ‘diviners’. In modern times all a person needs to do is make a phone call and shell out a few thousand dollars to get yourself a well of water. It wasn’t that many years ago that if you needed to find water on your property you found yourself a ‘diviner’ – someone who understood the Earth and her magic and knew how to find the pockets of water buried within her.

Dowsing is a type of divination employed in attempts to locate ground water, buried metals or ores, gemstones, oil, grave sites, and many other objects and materials, as well as so-called currents of earth radiation (Ley lines), without the use of scientific apparatus. Dowsing is also known as divining, doodlebugging (particularly in the United States, in searching for petroleum) or (when searching specifically for water) water finding, water witching or water dowsing.

Toad energy – Frog Medicine – as the Native Americans call it – is carried by people who in past lives were the Diviners of ages past. Frogs may show Up around you as Godsign if you are a Healer on this planet. Many Reiki masters and Healing Hands practitioners will tell you that their healing Energy is strengthened by getting their hands damp with water and many of them will have frog or toad symbols, pictures, ornaments popping Up all over the place.

The Maya and Aztecs believed the frog was a water deity whose croaking created and predicted the rain. To the ancient Celts, the frog was the lord of the earth and helped to bring understanding of the curative powers of water to humans. You may be someone that loves a long hot bath or shower. The answers that come to many in the shower are thanks to the healing powers of Spirit in water.

Many people, me included, love rain storms. Anyone who stands safely outside 5 minutes before a rain storm or 5 minutes after a rain storm can breath Healing ionized air that is created by Mother Earth before and after Her showers. surrounds them outside. Several deep breaths of this Healing atmosphere can fill you Up with wonderfully loving Energy.

Modern belief in a frog’s magical power is even spoken of today. You may have to kiss a few frogs in life to find your prince.

Watch for the Divine around us to use symbols, pictures, songs by and actual turtles and frogs in your life to bring you the healing Waters of Life; to remind you of the joy and wonder of Mother Earth’s healing magic surrounding you and to help you enjoy the rainbows and the rains of the seasons. As the frogs croak and sing the songs of Spring’s joy and the turtles swim forward with the Flow of Love around us all – I wish you all the Divine Gifts Mother Earth can shower on you this Spring and Summer. May you notice allllllll the Ways she Uses her animals to shower you with Her love!

Me About You
By The Turtles

Perhaps another time or maybe ‘nother place
Could’ve eased my mind, would’ve never seen your face
Or heard about you

But now you call my name & your reality
Though it’s hard to explain, I know I’ll never be
Without you

I know nothing about you
But I know I don’t doubt your love & I know that it’s real
By God above I know I feel you about
Got a handful of gold & a pocketful of dreams
But a heart full of love & I know what it means
To be without you

Just sit by my side & share with me
All the feelings inside & the things you see
About you

I know Miss Lonely will be here today
Waiting for me; now the time is right, so hear me say
That from now on I’ll stay about you  . . .

Life Is Beautiful
By Toad the Wet Sprocket

Life is Beautiful
Come wake me up
I have been asleep too long
And I pray, I pray it’s time
The storm is blowing over
It’s safe to go outside

Life is beautiful, beautiful
I could never imagine turning it away

Love will make you weak
Make you hungry
It’ll make you need someone
Who’ll break your trust
And call you out
But we never get enough

Life is beautiful, beautiful
Don’t you ever surrender to the voices in your head
Life is beautiful, beautiful
I could never imagine i turned away

Begin
By Toad the Wet Sprocket

Are you given vision
Are you second sight
Are you older than your life
Eighty days of sorrow
Endless more in sight
Still you child burn bright

And you see me crying again
And you hold out your little hand
Lead me shaking to his room
I thought I’d never see again

Close the door behind you
Turning out the light
Press a flashlight up against the wall
You say this is how we knew him, in a little egg
It opened up and this is daddy now

Now you’re stepping back towards me
Til the room is bathing in light
And the answer there before me
There’s no ending when we die
